Friargate Bridge

Coventry City's Ring Road, a vital transportation artery constructed between 1962 and 1974, includes Junction 6 (J6), a key access point to Coventry Rail Station and the A429 Warwick Road. To facilitate the 'Friargate' development—a transformative commercial project poised to generate approximately 13,400 permanent jobs—it was necessary to overcome the barrier posed by the Ring Road at J6.

This challenge was met with the construction of the £14.5M Friargate Bridge, a landmark structure that replaced the existing roundabout, creating an inviting public boulevard linking directly to the city centre.

Our role in this project extended beyond traditional financial reporting, risk management, third-party liaison, communications, and contract administration. We actively coordinated the activities of bridge contractors, demolition teams, and other stakeholders working within the city centre. This comprehensive approach minimized disruption to both traffic and pedestrian movement, ensuring a smooth transition during this major infrastructure improvement.

The Friargate Bridge not only enhances connectivity but also serves as a symbol of Coventry's commitment to urban regeneration and economic growth.
